My issue is that when an SMS sent or received the iOS decides to use iMessage and any attachments are saved permanently in the device’s database and in the backups. Even after when I delete the message or the message thread, the attachments are NOT deleted permanently.

Since my current iPhone has only 16GB storage and hence I want to delete all messages and attachments from iMessage on my iPhone.

So, what is your advice?

If you want to delete the unwanted messages and attachments in iMessages, then you should follow the below mentioned steps:

Step 1: Hit on message icon on your iPhone so to reveal all the conversion on your iPhone.

Step 2: After that delete iMessages messages and message attachments.

However to delete the entire conversation, you should hit on edit button on the top left and after that hit the little red circle in the left side for each conversation to enable the delete option on right.

Step 3: After that hit on delete option to delete the entire conversation.

If you want to delete of part of the conversation or iMessages attachment, then follow the below steps:

  • Hit on the conversation.
  • Tap More and then tap the little circle on the left so that you can check the message and iMessage attachments.
  • Hit on trash bin to delete iMessages message along with attachments.

If you are looking to delete messages and attachments permanently from your iPhone, then you can use iOS Private Data Eraser, it will help you to delete selected messages and attachments in iMessages from iPhone permanently. Here look at the guide - Erase Personal Data From iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch Permanently.
