I have tried resetting my iPhone 8 Plus (running on latest iOS 12), logging in and logging out of iCloud, and still I have a greyed out iCloud backup.

The only thing I did not try was to factory reset. Has anyone out there found a solution? I’d like to see if there is something else I can try before factory resetting my phone.
